Buckeyes Staff Golf Bag

The OSU Buckeyes stand golf bag pictured below can usually be found for about $160 and is a good value as a solid product that is most enjoyed by golfers who spend more time riding in a golf cart than walking when playing golf.

Ohio State Buckeyes staff golf bag that is red and gray.

The appeal of this particular item is that it is sort of a hybrid between an Ohio State golf cart bag and an OSU walking golf bag. What this means is that this piece of equipment is in many respects equally suited for being used with a golf cart or simply carried around a course on foot by a player that is aiming to enjoy some exercise during a 18 hole golf outing. This particular item known as a staff bag is also often referred to as an Ohio State University tour golf bag. The origin of the staff and tour names comes from the fact that this is more or less the type of product used on the professional golfing "tour" where caddies or "staff" assistant top ranked players by carrying around their golf clubs in a bag similar to the one depicted above.

There are an impressive 8 OSU logos on this particular Buckeyes item with perhaps the most endearing being the image of Brutus Buckeye on the padded shoulder strap. Against a crimson background the lovable Brutus character is depicted standing proud with feet shoulder width apart while victoriously holding up one finger on his right hand over his head to signify that Ohio State has the number one sports program in the country. There is an equally charming image of a closeup of Brutus' face on the front of the bag. As the image above illustrates this particular selection is flush with an abundance of Buckeye pride.

This is a very sturdy piece of golf equipment as it weights roughly 11 pounds when empty of all contents like golf clubs. While 11 pounds may not sound like a lot (it is a very manageable size) there are items specifically designed for carrying clubs while walking that weigh about 40% less than this particular one. Between the fact that the weight is on the heavy side and there is only a single padded shoulder strap (as opposed to a double strap for more evenly dispersing weight) this specific item is not optimally suited for a player that elects to carry their bag around the course even some of the time. However, if the design of this item suites a player that is accustomed to playing with a caddy or riding a golf cart then there is no reason not to consider this option.

Fourteen full length dividers are one of several positive features that golfers enjoy about this item. The fourteen dividers provide an organizational tool for housing every club in the set. The organization saves time in terms of fishing for clubs in ones bag and also reduces the risk of losing a golf club by leaving it behind on a hole. Some people most like the organizing element of the dividers because it provides more security for irons and woods that might otherwise knock into each other if it were not for full length dividers separating them. The term full length refers to the fact that the spacing dividers run all the way from the top of the bag to the bottom which is nice for avoiding entanglement of the club grips near the bottom of the bag.
